So, I just read this great book called Ladys hands, Lions heart: A midwifes Saga. I can always remember wanting to grow up and be a "mom". I can never remember not wanting to have a natural childbirth. Which I did when I had Jex. I absolutely loved being pregnant and couldnt wait to give birth and feel every ache and pain. It was such a great experience. So anyway, this book just has me thinking about it a lot and when I try and talk to Josh about it of course he isnt interested... why would he be? haha. So I am going to write about it. I want to have a home birth SO BAD, however Josh doesnt feel comfortable with that so for our future little ones I will settle with a birthing center. I feel like way too often people treat pregnant women like the are sick... and they arent! They are forming a beautiful baby and getting ready to bring a brand new life to earth, the greatest miracle ever. I just absolutely love it. What a blessing the whole process is.
In this book this midwife tells a bunch of different birth stories about births that she attended to all at the womens home. She is an amazing midwife, while reading this book it made me realize even more how natural childbirth is. We were made to do this. Far too often we intervene in the process and mess things up. Did you know that human mothers (like other mammals) while in childbirth if they feel threatened, stressed or unsafe their body will stop in mid labor until you get to a safe place to give birth? How incredible is that? The womans body is truly amazing. While at the same time I feel so passionate about natural childbirth and home births and being able to choose and be in control of your birth experience I am grateful for doctors and their abilities. If a mother is high risk a hospital is exactly where she should be.
Anyway, I could go on forever but I feel satisfied for now. So I hope that every mom knows that if they want to they can have a natural childbirth and it is SO worth it.

Hope this isn't creepy.. I'm Tara, I'm friends with Amanda Tallman and have heard of you through her and Jakel (all good things of course)I'm new to blogspot and have been playing with it to figure it out. I came across yours and this post. I had heard you had your son naturally, but didn't know it was with a midwife. I too had my son with a midwife (at the baby place). What a truly amazing experience! I cannot wait to have another baby there! Just thought I'd tell you I love that you posted this. So many people are uneducated when it comes to birth and think we are crazy and its just nice to find people who think the same way. :) I too want to have a baby at home, but my husband is also skeptical about that. Anyway, hope this didn't seem creepy!!
